Dear all,
Welcome to another one of our newsletters as we approach the end of term. Here is the news for the upcoming week of UCL Law Society events - have a great week!
Silk v Brief Launch Party
We are very pleased to announce that we will soon be having our annual Silk v Brief Launch Party! Join us on the 19th March for drinks, cake, food, and celebrations as we release the prints of this year's Silk v Brief editions.
There will be the awarding of prizes for the best articles, so make sure you turn up if you have contributed this year. The evening promises to be good fun and a nice way to finish the last Tuesday of term, and to celebrate everyone's amazing achievements. Even if you have not contributed to publications this year, you are still more than welcome to attend. You can sign up to attend here.
If you have any questions, please contact the Publications Officer at james.hall.21@ucl.ac.uk.
International Women’s Day Panel
We are proud to be hosting an insightful event where we can celebrate International Women's Day together. We will be joined by representatives from Sidley Austin and Cleary Gottlieb. All members of our community are welcome to learn and meet people.
The event will take place on Friday 8th March in the Gideon Schreier LT from 6:30pm. You can sign up to attend using the link here.
If you have any questions, please contact our DIO Officer at meral.abibula.21@ucl.ac.uk.
Advocacy Club: A Leading Barrister's Approach to Written and Oral Advocacy
We are delighted to be hosting an advocacy club session with Harriet Holmes, a property litigator at Wilberforce Chambers, who has appeared in front of the Privy Council, Supreme Court, and across jurisdictions, as well as being a former UCL student.
Harriet will be sharing her insights into the chancery/commercial Bar, and then running a workshop on written and oral advocacy, perfect for anyone hoping to improve their approach for mooting, interviews, or general applications.
The session will take place on Wednesday 13th March from 6:00-7:30pm in Bentham House. You can sign up here.
If you have any questions, please email saiba.ahuja.21@ucl.ac.uk, tze.chan.22@ucl.ac.uk, or ishaan.khosla.22@ucl.ac.uk.

A reminder that on Wednesday 6th March, we will be hosting Hustings as part of the election period for next year’s committee. This event will start with a short AGM, involving a summary of our year’s affairs and the proposal of constitutional amendments, and will run from 4:00pm in the Sir David Davies LT, Roberts Building. Links to watch on Zoom have been circulated in previous emails by both us and the Faculty.
In Conversation with Second Years
Don’t forget that today (Monday 4th), you can meet with second year students to talk about their experiences over the past years and get some advice on how to navigate this part of your academic journey. Between 6:30-8:00pm, you can join them in The Hub and Gideon Schreier.
